Lesson Four - Stories
This is what the main lesson screen looks like:
Singer Joss Stone helps Ben, Mia, Lottie, Ajay and Akshay write lyrics (or words) for a song about school.
The group dive into a dictionary and write a list of words that will be used as lyrics (or words) in a song.
Once the list is finished, the words can be arranged into order to form song lyrics (or words).
Joss Stone is an award-winning British soul singer who has released seven studio albums since 2003.

Activity
The children came up with lots of different words to describe school and how they feel about it - lumpy, bumpy potato, books, messy (and loads more)!
Do you think you could make a list of words that you think of when you think of school? Can you put them together into a pattern to make a story? And sing them to one of your favourite tunes?
Just a simple tune will be fine e.g. 'Row, Row, Row Your Boat' or 'The Wheels on the Bus'.
Your words will then be lyrics (song words)!
I would really like to hear your song please - perhaps you could record yourself singing it and send it to me (via your class teacher?). Thank you, that would be great!
Well, that is the end of the Thunder Jam adventures ... for now!
I hope you enjoy watching these videos and learning about different music! Please let me know how you get on.

"I found it very interesting and I thought that children learned about rhythm, by using body percussion without even realising that they were in a lesson, because it was so much fun for them!"
"I would highly recommend it!"
"I thought the song was lovely - there was a nice mix of playing the bowls, clapping, singing and actions. The whole idea of kitchen percussion is a brilliant one for lockdown but good in usual times too."
"The level of what you did/taught was perfect for their age and similar to things they do at school."
"The children all thoroughly enjoyed the session and were engaged throughout. They enjoyed having the opportunity to hold their own ukulele and learn to play along to some simple songs."
"The session was delivered brilliantly and the different stages were broken down into small sections to allow all children to participate."
