YEAR ONE - LESSON THREE

BBC Play It! - Make Some Noise

Hello Year 1!
Click here to see welcome video!

I hope you are enjoying learning at home!  It is a little bit different to being in school, I am sure it is just as much fun!

I have found you some exciting music games to play, I hope you will enjoy trying out the different instrument sounds, beats and rhythms of the songs.

To find the games on your computer or tablet, just follow the instructions below.

Let’s get started!

Lesson Three - Make Some Noise

This is what the main lesson screen looks like:

Please click on the 'PLAY IT!' picture below to join the game:

In this lesson, please click on the orange block.

You can always go back and play the blue and pink/purple games afterwards!

  • In this orange section, you can add your own sounds and beats to the music.
  • You can create rhythms (a pattern of sounds) or keep to the beat (the regular sound that keeps the music going and in time).
  • Can you clap the beat? Can you clap the rhythm?

I hope you enjoy playing these games and learning about different music!  Please let me know how you get on.

"I found it very interesting and I thought that children learned about rhythm, by using body percussion without even realising that they were in a lesson, because it was so much fun for them!"

"I would highly recommend it!"

"I thought the song was lovely - there was a nice mix of playing the bowls, clapping, singing and actions. The whole idea of kitchen percussion is a brilliant one for lockdown but good in usual times too."

"The level of what you did/taught was perfect for their age and similar to things they do at school."

"The children all thoroughly enjoyed the session and were engaged throughout. They enjoyed having the opportunity to hold their own ukulele and learn to play along to some simple songs."

"The session was delivered brilliantly and the different stages were broken down into small sections to allow all children to participate."
