Hello Year One!
Click here to see welcome video!
Today you are going to be playing along with the Piccolo Orchestra ♫ ♫ ♫
Activity
You are going to be playing tunes on a piano keyboard on the computer.
This is what the keyboard looks like:
Can you see the different coloured shapes on the piano keys?
These are going to help us play.
These are the songs you are going to learn how to play:
Please click on the picture below to join in the fun:
Press the white triangle in the red circle to hear and watch the tune,
then have a go yourself. When there are gaps in the music, there is
a space between the shapes.
Further Activity
When you have played the tunes, why not try making up a tune yourself?
Have a play with pressing the keys and see if you can create a tune of
your own. Don't forget to draw the shapes you have played - this is called
writing a 'graphic score'.
I am looking forward to seeing and playing what you create.
Thank you very much for working so hard on this, I hope you enjoyed
playing the piano and getting creative with music!
See you soon.
Mrs Sumner
Thank you to Pizza Express for making these resources available for us to use.

"I found it very interesting and I thought that children learned about rhythm, by using body percussion without even realising that they were in a lesson, because it was so much fun for them!"
"I would highly recommend it!"
"I thought the song was lovely - there was a nice mix of playing the bowls, clapping, singing and actions. The whole idea of kitchen percussion is a brilliant one for lockdown but good in usual times too."
"The level of what you did/taught was perfect for their age and similar to things they do at school."
"The children all thoroughly enjoyed the session and were engaged throughout. They enjoyed having the opportunity to hold their own ukulele and learn to play along to some simple songs."
"The session was delivered brilliantly and the different stages were broken down into small sections to allow all children to participate."
